Downtown Living Exposed Exhibition

I was honored to be selected as one of twenty exhibiting photographers in the recent Downtown Living Exposed Gallery Exhibition, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. The show included images that capture the look and feel of Downtown’s emerging residential neighborhood.

The below image of the Grand Rotunda at the Pennsylvanian was my entry, which I entitled "Beneath the Golden Shadows". My Artist's Statement was as follows,

  • I have a particular love of photographing grandiose architecture, and enjoy the challenge of capturing the way an imposing structure makes me feel – awestruck, small, or reflective of the location’s historic significance. Standing under the Pennsylvanian’s Grand Rotunda, I looked up, saw the distant lone business traveler, and instinctively snapped some images of the moment. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the contrasts that I’d captured – the Pennsylvanian’s stately arches framing a nearby modern structure, urban greenery, and a businessman walking home after a train trip. Pittsburgh’s mix of old and new provides me endless photographic inspiration.
